Many of our projects start with a constraint—and sometimes, that's exactly where the magic begins.

For this central Austin home, the backyard featured a large, protected tree that couldn’t be removed or built around. Instead of seeing that as a limitation, we saw an opportunity: shift the pool to the side yard and shape it to fit the space, rather than force a design that didn’t belong.

The result is a custom right-trapezoid pool, designed to maximize every usable inch of the yard while maintaining flow, balance, and beauty. Measuring 19 feet long and between 6’6” and 9’6” wide, the pool's tapered shape allows for both a soaking end and a swim lane feel. The depth ranges from 3’6” to 4’10”, making it ideal for cooling off, relaxing, or entertaining.

This pool features:

StoneScapes Mini Pebbles plaster in Salt & Pepper, for a clean, modern water color
Fireclay 2"x6" tile in Tusk, installed vertically, accented by hand-painted 6"x6" accent tiles and matching “toe tile” on the sun shelf, steps and bench for a touch of character
Terrazzo coping from Concrete Collaborative for a unique and eye-catching edge treatment

The homeowner completed the surrounding areas by integrating materials and furnishings that reflect their personal style—comfortable, modern, and full of charm. The pool feels like an integral part of the home, especially with the large glass doors and windows facing the pool and deck area.

This is a perfect example of what’s possible when thoughtful design meets a collaborative client partnership. Even with spatial challenges, we were able to deliver a pool that feels effortless, intentional, and completely at home.
